I know what feminists would say.
If those abortions had been legal, the women would have been able to obtain a safe abortion.
The problem is that by obtaining these "safe abortions", these women would have exacerbated the sex ratio imbalance.
Which in the end hurts women, doesn't it?
When sex-selection abortion is illegal, there's a means of stopping it.
The real problem, of course, is that China has a one-child poilcy.
