It's called pericoital contraception.
Researchers are working on a pill that women can take during the time they want to have sex-- derisively called "The Slut Pill".
In fairness, it's thought to be most beneficial to women who have infrequent intercourse.
If that thing ever makes it to market, you can be sure the abortion rate will sky-rocket.
Because many a youngster will get the pill, stick it in her purse, and leave it there.
I can see the ad campaign for this: be lazy. Don't take a pill every day. It's such a pain. Take one only when you need it.
And of course, it will suck in a whole bunch of women, who won't take the damned thing precisely because they're too lazy to take it every day.
And then of course, there will be a lot of drunk women who won't bother to take it.
If this thing ever makes it to market, it will be a disaster.
But here's my biology question.
If this pill is meant to be taken infrequently, will it interfere with the lining of the uterus? Will it be a lesser evil than the BCP we all know and hate?
At any rate, it's not on the market yet. Researchers have been crowing about the BCP for men, and it's not happening...
