I fear that this will further marginalize religion.
Instead of religious issues being the concern of Foreign Affairs, or Justice, or whatever department that should handle it...
It'll be the concern of this tiny office
And if two departments manage to take up a cause, simultaneously, that's even worse.
I also suspect that some day, a leftist government will develop an official government policy on religion and use it to prosecute faithful Christians. It will define religious freedom in a self-serving manner, and effectively persecute those who oppose it.
