In the wake of the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade NARAL just put out a video called the Faces of Choice.
It's a bunch of still pictures of good- looking models.
There are a number of token faces like a Muslim, a queer-looking woman, and some women of colour.
No fat women. Not too much ethnic diversity. I didn't see any disabled women. No young teenagers.
It was this big marketing thing and I'm not sure what it was supposed to accomplish.
Make "choice" cool? Attract the kind audience that reads Vogue?
Because if I were sitting at home looking at these women, I wouldn't recognize myself in them, and it's not because I never had an abortion.
