I think the notion of "smokers' rights" is foolish.
What right do people have to pollute others' airspace with a toxic substance known to trigger asthma symptoms and just makes it smelly in general?
We don't allow people to commit noise pollution.
Why should we allow smoke pollution?
That being said, I'm leary of this ban because I always thought it would not be enforced. The perp had to phone by-law to dare them to ticket him.
I don't think it's going to be enforced. It's like those no smoking signs at bus stops. People ignore them.
If you pass a ban, enforce it. Otherwise it`s a joke, and you may as well not pass it all.
However, if it does stop people from smoking near my kids while I'm at the park with them, it would make me very happy.
