Pell: When you substitute a liberal or a radical alternative to Christ, you produce contraceptive Catholics. That might look okay on the surface, but they are quite unable to produce new life. Liberalism and radical Christianity, conformed to the world, is totally incapable of wrestling with secularism and transmitting the message.
Barron: It doesn’t reproduce itself?
Pell: Not at all.
I would add: liberalism can't deal with secularism because it is secularism, with Christian garb.
I love this man. Is there a bishop in the English-speaking world who speaks so plainly about church affairs so that you don't need a decoder ring to know what the heck he's talking about?
We need people like that in the Church.
I know he's a long-shot for the papacy. Who am I kidding? He doesn't have a hope in hell. He's still be a great pope. We need to talk him up.
