The problem with restricting abortion for demographic issues is that once those demographic issues are perceived to be solved, then laws are relaxed.
Although liberal abortion laws have a disastrous effect on population, demographics should not be invoked as the main reason to restrict abortion. In the long run, it only hurts the pro-life movement.
And in any case, if people want late-term social abortions, they will invent a reason to have one. Abortion laws are only as effective as the willingness of the people to follow them.
That doesn't mean there shouldn't be any.
