Now, to your surprise, no, that's not fair to you, to your consternation, you've found out that FOCA, if enacted, will invalidate your state's public health and safety laws on abortion And therein lies the pickle. So yes, you voted for Obama. And you still believe in Obama. And yet you had thought that these state laws were worthwhile efforts to protect lives even though they did not go as far as you would have liked in a perfect world. You've given it thought. You've given it prayer. You've talked with trusted voices in your community of faith. You've reached a decision.

You go to the phone, intent on dialing the Capitol Switchboard, (202) 224-3121, to reach your Representative and your Senators. After all, this representative democracy calls for your participation. You plan to tell them that now is the wrong time to take up FOCA.
