In response to my posting a video featuring Sarah Palin's critique of Barack Obama's record on abortion, someone posted a website created by Obama's "pro-life" supporters.
The fact of the matter is, it's not enought to "oppose abortion".
The struggle of the pro-life movement is not simply ending abortion. It's about the legal recognition of the humanity and equality of the unborn child.
Obama is against the humanity of the unborn child.
You can pay for social programs to the hilt. No amount of social support will reduce abortions if the unborn child is not recognized as an equal human being. There was plenty of support for women in Community Russia. Did that stop women from having 10, 20 or 30 abortions? No.
Why? Because the unborn child was not legally recognized.
Americans, look at Canada. Canada has lots of social programs. Quebec, the most socialist province, has an abortion rate far higher than any other place in North America.
The US has the most successful pro-life movement in the Western World. Why has it been successful? Because it has been able to get legislatures to pass fetal-friendly laws.
Opposing fetal rights is tantamount to supporting abortion.
Obama has never said one word recognizing the humanity of the unborn child. If he is against the unborn child, you can expect him to vote against his interests. Obama had opportunities to defend the unborn child, but he didn't.
What do you suppose he will do in the future?
If abortion legislation comes up, he will vote against it.
Under the Republicans, great strides have been made for fetal protection, most notably the PBA ban. You might think: the PBA ban doesn't save that many children. However, it did establish in a positive fashion that an unborn child could be protected under law.
If you're a pro-life American, and you care about fetal rights, I strongly recommend that you vote for the McCain/Palin ticket. If you want to see what happens when you vote for left-wingers who oppose fetal rights, look to Canada. While we have an ostensibly Conservative government, the majority are against fetal rights. We have no fetal rights protection whatsoever. You can abort for any reason up to birth, and when a woman cannot find an abortionist who'll do a late-term abortion, the government will pay for her to go to the US, to clinics like the one belonging to George Tiller, in order to kill her fetus.
Canadians can only dream of the opportunity that Americans have. If you do not vote for a Republican ticket, you will set back the cause of fetal rights 20 years. This is the best opportunity you've ever had to achieve the equality of the unborn.
Don't throw it away.
