What Ms. Kay neglects to mention in all of this is that the bill actually does nothing to protect pregnant women or their fetuses, deter violence against them, nor impose more justice. It concedes that the fetus is an individual apart from its mother by recognizing a second crime in attacking it -- that's all. Which is a bit like closing the barn door after the horse takes off -- it would certainly be more constructive to protect pregnant women (and by proxy, fetuses) from being attacked in the first place.
Women, women, women. Demanding that the legal system recognize the loss of your fetus is not justice. That fetus doesn't belong to you! That's just a body part. That should only be counted as a body part or as one count of murder. If you love little Tom or Janey, well that's your tough luck. Your love, your personal investment in that little fetus doesn't matter. What's that famous line? "Fetuses don't matter".

The loss of a wanted pregnancy is certainly tragic and traumatic; the future baby that someone has hopes and dreams for does have its own intrinsic value.
But the loss of a present fetus isn't worth squat, and no one should have to answer for depriving you and your family for that non-entity. Your deprivation, your violation of your right to birth that baby, well that's doesn't amount to a hill of bins. Be deprived of a material object or a pet? The legal system will prosecute. Be deprived of a fetus? Oh well, too bad.

Yeah, feminists know way better than you what your interests are. You're all non-feminists. You need feminists to speak for you. You have this crazy idea that the woman and the fetus are not one. What the heck are you thinking?
