Here's an interesting article.
In Sri Lanka, there is a Buddhist Monks' Party that wants to draft a bill regarding animal welfare.
I suspect that these Buddhists are strongly influenced by their faith.
Now, would secular leftist, animal rights people approve of this measure?
Or would they denounce this interference of the Pagoda in State affairs? Would they decry the spectre of a Buddhist theocracy in Sri Lanka?
I wonder.
