I just saw this article (H/T: Guillaume Sirois) from Cyberpresse reporting that Radio-Canada, the French public broadcaster in Canada, was cited for having broadcast an episode of "The Fric Show" (hm, Fric...that's usually a clean swear for f---, um never mind). This broadcast, airing last April showed nude women and explicit sexual acts during prime time. It also showed the film set of a porn movie.
There were three warnings during the show about the content, but the CRTC has ruled that this was not sufficient. It says that explicit scenes should only be shown between 9 pm and 6 am-- which is interesting, given that a lot of kids are up at 5:00 am. But whatever.
Here's the kicker: the CRTC did not punish Radio-Canada, but sternly warned the coporation that it would take into account this incident when its license was up for renewal....
I'm they're shaking in their boots and frantic over this.
