Blog threatened by Winnipeg Free Press

I was browsing BloggingTories, when I saw this post from Dust My Broom.

The Winnipeg Free Press wants Winnipeg Theft to stop posting its articles.

The funny part is that the lawyer papers weren't served to the blog owner, but to a contributor-- someone who has no editorial oversight.

Blog owner Kreval says that lawyer is lazy. No kidding, eh?

I can't make any legal comments about the articles, but this just looks like bullying. Blogs send traffic to newspapers and generally make them known.

I wonder what the rationale is for legal action. It seems to me that picking on a blogger is a bit petty-- it may be legal-- but bloggers do have a valuable social role to play. There should be some room for social comment.
