Southern Italy has been plagued by forest fires that are suspected of being start by the Mafia, who are trying to clear wooded areas for construction.
The Bishop of Locri-Gerace, Msgr. Giancarlo Maria Bregantini said that they should be excommunicated.
I'm all for it. I just wish that someone would have the guts to do it. The Church talks about excommunicated, but the only people who ever seem to be punished are those who ordain illicitly and church dissidents. Which is fine, but when are murderers and their supporters going to be hit, too?
