Catholics, Evangelicals and Muslims stand side-by-side in the heart of Portland’s inner city, drawn together by outrage. The parcel of land behind the 15 or so protesters could be used to do good, they say — as a doctor’s office, a school for entrepreneurs or low-cost housing.
Instead, city officials have given the go-ahead for Planned Parenthood to build an abortion clinic on the site, which is next door to a Muslim house of worship. Those opposed argue that Planned Parenthood is coming to an African-American neighborhood to make money, and could end up furthering promiscuity and causing the deaths of many unborn Black children.
