CBC’s Wish List – National Campus Life Network Not Surprised

National Campus Life Network (NCLN) is not surprised at the support given to the “Abolish Abortion in Canada” wish on The Great Canadian Wish List. The support is similar to the recent surge in pro-life activism on post-secondary campuses across Canada.

Theresa Matters, NCLN Executive Director observes, “Given the amount of pro-life campus activity, the fact that abolishing abortion has been at number one most of this contest is not something to be shocked about. Young people are recognizing that abortion takes a human life and the harm that it does to women – and they are speaking out.”

In fact, NCLN has recently added a new staff position to keep up with the increased demand of students looking to get involved with on-campus pro-life educational outreach.

NCLN is a national support organization that assists pro-life university students to bring the pro-life message to their campus. NCLN works with and connects over 30 organized post-secondary student pro-life groups. Just over the past year 9 new student groups were formed.

The students have organized a range of events to bring awareness to the issue of abortion. One such event is an information fair, called Life Fair. The universities of Toronto, Waterloo, and McMaster among others, have hosted these events to distribute information to their fellow students about the life-giving options in their communities when faced with a crisis pregnancy.

The 10th National March For Life in Ottawa this past May is an additional indication that young people are looking for change on this issue. This past May, over 6,800 people predominately youth, participated in the National March for Life calling for legislative action on abortion.
