In feminist circles, you will sometimes hear the slogan "the personal is political". That means, that the personal details of women's lives are not simply individual concerns, but should be the concern of society.
The personal is political when it invites people to get involved in social problems that underlie social issues.
BUT...
When it comes to making women accountable to society for their actions against the unborn child...
It's none of your business!
So when when a woman can't solve her financial issues because her live-in boyfriend is a jerk and won't lend her the money to help her raise her son...government intervention is called upon and welcome.
But when it comes to regulating or banning abortion...government should "trust women" to deal with their problems.
Well, which is it? Is the personal political, or not?
