CHP: Conservative’ budget = record spending

From the Christian Heritage Party Newsletter:

Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, presenting his second budget on behalf of an allegedly ‘conservative’ government March 19, now enters the record books as the most free-spending finance minister in Canada’s history—even when the numbers are adjusted for inflation and population growth.

The federal government has promised to pay down the national debt—$472.3 billion, or $15,235 for every man, woman and child in Canada (about $61,000 for every family)—at $3 billion a year. At that rate, however, it will take 153 years before Canada becomes debt-free!

The CHP’s common-sense plan—to treat the national debt like a national ‘mortgage’ by paying about $4 billion a month (only $12 billion a year over what we already pay in interest on the debt) would make Canada debt-free in less than two decades. That would then allow tax cuts of about $6,000 a year—$500 a month—for every family.
