Late-term abortion was "soul-destroying" experience

For Sarah, at the time 21 years old and in a steady relationship, there are few doubts in her mind now that a late abortion must be a last resort.

"It was soul destroying," she whispers. "If you've got to have an abortion then it shouldn't be at the late stage that I was at unless there are really good reasons.

(...)

Four months later - around the time her baby might have been born - she went to pieces.

Stricken with grief and guilt, she turned to drink. "I knew I needed help badly, I was so messed up," she adds.

"I'd been given the scan picture of the baby - by mistake, I suppose. But I kept it and used to put it beside me on my pillow when I went to bed. I'd have nightmares. I could hear this child calling my name."

No, no psychological trauma associated with abortion. None at all. Only women with psychiatric problems have issues with abortion
