Seattle Abortion Clinic Closes: clients too poor

A Seattle abortion clinic that has operated for 34 years and claims responsibility for an estimated 54,000 abortions is closing permanently in a month because its clients are "too poor," according to a statement from one of its executives.

The shutdown continues a downward trend in the number of clinics in the country, according to a separate report that monitors annually the number of businesses run by Planned Parenthood, the industry's largest abortion provider.

The Seattle shutdown also brings to 17 the number of clinics that have closed just in recent months, a trend that gives evidence "the abortion cartel is crumbling," said Troy Newman, the president of Operation Rescue.

Why do all these abortion clinics close?

Because abortion is a shady business. People have this idea about "reproductive services" being a field like any other. If any other health field were run like the abortion industry, there'd be an outcry.

Could you imagine the things that abortion clinics do being done in a dentist's office? Non-medical personnel doing operations; blood on the floor; hygiene issues; sexual harrassment and assault.

I wouldn't let such a careless dentist look inside my mouth let alone operate on me.

But feminists go to bat for these people. Why? For their vaunted self-determination.

In the States, a lot of abortionists (by no means all) do abortions because they don't know what else to do with themselves. They've often been cited by Medical Boards, they're in trouble and no one else will hire them. People in the medical field agree in general to the notion that abortion should be legal. But there's still a huge stigma to doing abortions, even if most people don't want them criminalized. Why? Well think about it. You're taking life rather than saving life. When future medical professionals think of their future careers, they think: I want be a heart surgeon; I want to deliver babies; I want to do medical research. They don't say "I want to do abortions". It's absolutely un-glamourous.

And so this unglamourous profession attracts shady types of questionnable integrity, which is why you get so many clinic violations and issues surrounding unprofessionalism.
