The results are in for the Canadian Blog Awards.I would like to thank all the people who voted for me during the first round.
I got about 49 votes in the Best Blog and Best Conservative Blog votes. I suppose I could have made it to the top 5 in the Best Conservative Blog category ( I was # 7), but I didn't want to put in the effort.
I'll tell you the truth: I'm not so much mad that I lost in the Best Blog category, I'm just irked at the kinds of blogs I lost to.
Raymi the Minx? I never heard of her.
If I'd least lost to a political, cultural or religious blog-- even those of my ideological opponents.
When I consider all the blogs in the Canadian political blogosphere...and I had to lose to that. I'm sure all her fans like her, but this is not the blogging crowd I know.
It's just not very satisfying. It's like a piece of cinema losing to the latest low-brow sitcom.
I'm thinking about running a Canadian Political Blog Awards. The only thing is that it requires quite a bit of technical footwork. This Awards ceremony does not ring true for me. I suppose there should just be a "Best Politcal Blog" award, tout court.
That being said, a big word of thanks to Robert McClelland for his hard work.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 24th: Raymi the Minx is a little peeved at my reaction.
I really wish I had something witty to respond, but I don't. It's not one of my strengths.
I don't doubt that a blog written at an adolescent level, dealing with non-intellectually-challenging themes would be interesting to a lot of people.
But some people do find that boring. And some people do find politics and religion interesting. But I guess if she wants to look down with condescension on those who write better than she does, and deal with more important issues, that is certainly her perogative. There is simply no accounting for taste.
P.S. Thanks for the traffic.
