Conservative Artists and Writers

There's an active thread on Free Dominion right now about why there aren't any conservative artists.

This is a crucial link. We cannot win the culture war without culture. Liberals have had the upper hand for several hundred years. When you think about where the course of our literature and art has been and is heading, it's not surprising at all that we're in an age when baby-killing is okay and gay marriage is the law.

Here's an excerpt I wrote:

...Conservatives, even artists, tend to be so "bourgeois". They do really "normal people stuff"-- like raise kids, pay the mortgage, etc. If you're a single, free-wheeling bohemian, you have an advantage. You can devote your whole time to your ideas and art. I barely have time to crank out a poem, let alone edit it, publish it and spread it. I was just thinking about how the last 300 years of cultural influence has led to this point-- this point of decadence. It's almost inevitable. We can't change society on politics alone.
