Pro-lifers and Capital Punishment

Many people say that pro-lifers aren't really pro-life because most of them support capital punishment.

This is a ridiculous argument, of course, because there's a difference between killing an innocent unborn baby and a criminal who poses a threat to society.

I did an informal survey on Free Dominion on the attitudes of pro-lifers to capital punishment.

POLL

Here are the results at the time of posting...

How do you feel about capital punishment?

I am pro-life WITH EXCEPTIONS and I approve of capital punishement
40% [ 14 ]

I am pro-life WITH EXCEPTIONS and I DO NOT approve of capital punishment
14% [ 5 ]

I am pro-life with NO EXCEPTIONS and I approve of capital punishment
20% [ 7 ]

I am pro-life with NO EXCEPTIONS and I DO NOT approve of capital punishment
25% [ 9 ]

Total Votes : 35

Okay, this is an informal, unscientific survey. But Free Dominion does have quite a population of pro-lifers. It seems that while the majority of pro-lifers on Free Dominion do support capital punishment, a significant majority do not. I find it's interesting that those who were pro-life with no exceptions tended to be more against than for capital punishment.

I wish some polling firm would do a more in-depth study about this. I think Canadian pro-lifers tend to be very much against capital punishment, because a sizeable number of them are Catholic.
