Portland Mercury Disrespects Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ

So I'm doing a Google News Search, when I come up onto this page:

http://www.portlandmercury.com/portland/Content?oid=37915&category=34029

It's an Easter Coloring Contest for adults, from what seems to be some kind of local entertainment paper from Portland.

One of the rules says:

• Color this week’s cover of the Portland Mercury using the medium of your choice (crayons, acrylics, watercolors, chalk, the sacrificial blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, etc.).

Why do people do that? Why do they think it's okay to dis the religious objects of others? Do they think we're not reading? Who do they think they are? Are they just that ignorant that they don't realize this is insulting?
