One thing that I think needs to be done to create a more pro-life culture is more artists who write and depict the unborn child and related topics.
The unborn child is invisible. He's invisible not only because he is in the womb, but because artists do not tell his story, or make him an iconic figure. If the average person regularly saw images of the unborn child, read about him and was generally encouraged to create an emotional attachment to him, that would definitively help him. If a woman has built up an emotional attachment to the unborn child, if faced with a crisis pregnancy, she would be less likely to abort. And if the unborn child had a greater presence in the minds of the people, they would be more likely to support laws protecting him.
It is often said that people borrow their morals from tv and the mainstream media. This is very true. But if this is true, then pro-lifers have a duty to influence the hearts of the people by creating artistic productions that speak to the worth of the unborn child. Most of us cannot make television shows, but many of us are artistic and can create with the pro-life cause in mind. This is how artistic influence begins-- everyday people doing their own thing. If enough people do it and do it well, we can create a culture and a body of work that can influence average people.
